Challenge

Welcome to our second challenge! For this challenge we want you to create a card with.... wait for it..one layer! That's right a single layer card - something I rarely do lol! Even though I'm a lotsa-layers kinda girl when I started making some samples I found it so rewarding and refreshing and plan on making these type of cards more often! Another bonus - they're so quick to make!!

So want to know what you can win.....?

The lucky winner will receive a package of Raspberry Fizz heaven! To be precise:

-5 sheets of A4 Raspberry Fizz cardstock
-1 sheet of each design from the Raspberry Fizz Mix paper collection ( 12 8 x 8 sheets in total)
-1 metre each of Raspberry Fizz Grosgrain, Satin and Polka Dots ribbon

So here's what you do - make a single layer card using your Papertrey goodies. Embellishments (including ribbon and punched or die cut shapes) are allowed. When you've uploaded your creation to your blog or online gallery leave us a link in the comments section below. We will manually add your link to this post from your comments.

You have until 9am on Monday, March 23rd to enter when we'll randomly draw a winner, prizes will be shipped within Europe only.

Here are a few samples I made to give you a few ideas. (Steph, by the way, is currently sunning herself in Florida - or more likely being dragged by her DH and kiddos around Disneyworld lol! - and will be back next week)

For the first two cards I got back to some good old stamping - PTI stamps are just fabulous for this type of simple, clean looking card (but then they're good for any style don't ya think?!)

I used the stems and flowers from Green Thumb, and the butterfly from With Sympathy which I blinged up with Stickles.

Recipe:
Stamps - Green Thumb/With Sympathy
Ink - Melon Berry/Ripe Avocado/Sweet Blush/Lavender Moon/Plum Pudding
Ribbon - Ripe Avocad0
Other - stickles

I adore this Ripe Avocado colour, so used it again on this card. All the stamps on the front are from Beautiful Blooms. The flowers were stamped once on the card base then again on a separate piece of card - I cut these out and mounted them on top of the flowers on the card and added some stickles to their centres - layering the flowers really adds dimension to the card.

Here's a detail:

I used a scallop edge punch along the vertical side of the card and on the inside stamped a border using one of the solid borders from Recipe Box.

Recipe:
Stamps - Beautiful Blooms/Recipe Box
Ink - Ripe Avocado/Spring Rain/Lemon Tart/True Black
Ribbon - Spring Rain Gingham
Other - stickles/scallop edge punch

The next two are examples of using die-cuts and punched shapes:

I die-cut the stars from the fabulous Bitty Polka Dot Basics papers using star nestabilities, layered them up and added pearls to their centres. I created the black rectangle by using a long rectangle nestability as a stencil and drawing around its inside with a black pen. The three little dots underneath the sentiment are stamped with a teeny dot from the Polka Dot Basics set.

Recipe:
Stamps - Heartfelt Sentiments/Polka Dot Basics
Ink - True Black/Plum Pudding/Aqua Mist
Paper - 2008 Bitty Dot Basics
Ribbon - Aqua Mist Topnotch Twill
Other - black pen/nestabilities - long rectangle and stars/adhesive pearls/corner rounder punch

And finally - I know there are a lot of butterflies around at the moment but I just adore them and couldn't resist using my butterfly punch and some PTI papers to create my own montage. I used a square nestability to emboss the card front, then punched out the butterflies and adhered them using glue dots - I love this card!!

Recipe:
Papers - Raspberry Fizz Mix/Black and White Basics
Other -butterfly punch/square nestability/Cuttlebug

Good luck and have fun!

Kate

Kate my dear - your cards are way too amazing for me to even want to post one of my own - shame on you for making me feel inadequate on my own (shared) blog LOL xxx BTW - I can't create anything with just one layer!! We should have discussed this first....haha
